    Administrative Changes At MHS
    in the district. Dr. Reidy believes that many students need alternatives, and the district is always looking to expand its offerings to meet the needs of all students. His first choice for the job was none other than Mr. Trummer, who accepted Reidy's offer to be Principal of Secondary Alternative Programs. Mr. Trummer was a natural choice, as he had a hand in expanding the AP Program, Night School, New Directions, and other alternative programs. Reidy was happy with the way things turned out, saying, "We are always putting people in places where they will be more effective. We are always looking for better ways to serve the children." This left a large hole in the Mahopac High School administrative staff. Dr. Reidy looked inward to find the successor to Mr. Trummer, and he decided that Mr. Pease was ready to be Principal of the High School. Mr. Pease has been an assistant principal for five years now at Mahopac. Dr. Reidy believed that Mr. Pease performed his duties as a house principal exceptionally well, and thought that he would make a fine principal. Dr. Reidy then recommended Mr. Pease to the Board of Education, who approved him shortly thereafter. Mr. Pease has worked for eleven years in the field of education. Before being a principal at Mahopac, he was a science teacher at Katonah. Mr. Pease has experience both as an administrator and as a teacher, which is part of why Dr. Reidy thought that he would be a good choice. Mr. Pease says that he welcomes the new responsibilities because he is a hard worker and always willing to rise to the occasion to accomplish what is needed to be done. He does not want to force new policies on the school; instead he wants to open a dialogue with the students and faculty on improving the school. Says Pease, "It's not my school, it's our school. If 1800 students don't think it's important, it probably isn't. And my door is always open." His biggest goal as a new administrator is to find out what's working well in this school and then building upon that. Mr. Pease's first big job as the new principal was to find a new house principal. At the top of his list was Mr. Gardineer, a teacher of science here at MHS. Mr. Gardineer has had an administrative degree for some time now, but this will be his first experience as an administrator. Mr. Pease thought he was the natural choice based upon his years of experience as a teacher. Mr. Gardineer will take Mr. Pease's position as the Principal of the Blue House.
