Dear Friends, As I write this letter we have just experienced another first in the life and ministry of Olivet. On Sunday, August 15 we offered for the first time - river baptisms for those who have never been baptized or those wishing to affirm the baptism promise that God made with them. I am thrilled to inform you that 23 people got wet. We had 13 people who had never been baptized before and 10 people who wished to affirm their baptisms. A member of our church told me that at first she thought the whole idea was a ―little hokey‖ but when she went down there and saw a person in a wheel chair and adults who have never been baptized and the tears in some of their eyes she no longer thought it was hokey. At Olivet we will continue to be the BOLD church I thank you for your support as Olivet continues to break down walls that separate people from outside the church to God's mercy, grace and the new life He is calling us to live into. "For I fully expect and hope that I will never be ashamed, but that I will continue to be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past. And I trust that my life will bring honor to Christ, whether I live or die." Philippians 1:20 For your calendars a few more firsts at Olivet that we will be offering this year… On Saturday, October 2nd we will be offering our first ever Blessing of the Animals (yes – outside). On Sunday, October 10th Olivet has been chosen to be a movie premiere site for the new movie on the Ten Commandments called ―I Am‖ – we will be showing the movie at Olivet as the Premiere site in the La Crosse area.
